Life in the Toybox 2015
When we close a toy box, how much do our toys stay with us and how much of us stay with them? From dolls too precious to play with to teddies long forgotten, Silver Circle Productions brings you Life in the Toybox from Feb 18-21 at the Rose Centre to explore the hidden sides of the toys we cherish, abandon, and enjoy… Will you come out to play?
With its unique blend of quirky humour, diverse talents, and endless energy, Silver Circle Productions has a reputation for the bizarre and wonderful – producing full-scale theatrical productions, circus / acrobatic events, and cabaret and burlesque shows since 2008. Whether supporting community and charity events such as the Santa Parade and Roller Derby, creating masterpieces for private or corporate events like the Langham Circus party and University of Auckland PGSA End of Year Celebration, or showcasing their talents on a larger stage like at The New Zealand Body Arts Awards, Auckland Aethercon Convention, or their recent collaboration with West City Concert band, this talented group of diverse individuals (who tend to be as colourful as the characters they play), are always looking for new ways to bring together and share their passions for dance, acrobatics, aerial arts, circus skills, comedy, theatre, and fun!
In the 2013 Auckland Fringe Festival they triumphed over evil in a young girl’s nightmares and in 2014 they explored a dystopian future full of machines and uniformity. This Fringe they’re back at the Rose Centre with their sixth annual production, Life in the Toybox, inviting you to join them in a world of creativity and colour where the line blurs between who is playing with whom in this circus we call life.
Our large, multi-talented, cast brings you an assortment of acrobatic animals, dancing dolls, aerial figurines and more. Come along and become part of the story (and maybe even our quirky community)! Bring your humour, your friends, and your best costume to the Rose Centre from February 18-21. Arrive early for pre-show fun and games and stay late to celebrate, but please, “play nice” 😉
